Letter:
Thanks to Athletes Serving the Community in the “Newton Tab”
Tuesday, January 20, 2004
A huge thank you goes out to the Athletes Serving the Community. The Newton Fire Department has a yearly
holiday party which approximately 150 children attend. This event requires
much time and preparation. This year it was all made easier with a
tremendous amount of help from the Athletes Serving the Community. This
group of students arrived on time, willing to work and totally
co-operative. They have also worked on other projects including Special
Olympics and a Red Cross blood drive. I cannot say enough about these
individuals and their wonderful attitudes. They were all pleasures to work
with. I highly recommend any organization in search of motivated, pleasant,
and dependable volunteers to take advantage of this group.

Newton Firefighter's Christmas party coordinator
I just wanted to send a note of thanks for coming and having your group
help us out. A few of the individuals running the event commented on how
helpful and flexible your group was. On behalf of all the athletes,
coaches, and Special Olympics staff, we thank you. Despite the freezing
cold courts and hectic day, your group truly did help us in a major way.
Thanks Again,
Sara Ortins

Thanks so much for volunteering for Conservancy Volunteers last Saturday!
Everyone did a great job cleaning up the asphalt and debris. Once the grass
we planted grows in, the edge of the pathway will look great! As the
state's budget crisis continues, the work of volunteers is becoming more
and more important to keeping our parks beautiful.
Thanks!
Britt

Just wanted to thank your organization for being such a big help at the
Weeks House Holiday party. It was a huge success. One resident said it was
the best party she had attended in her 86 years of life. The kids you sent
were lovely and everyone enjoyed them. So thank you, thank you, thank you.

Bob, I just wanted to thank you and the kids for coming out to the Walk.
Your help was greatly appreciated. The feedback from other volunteers was
amazing. The general consensus was what a great bunch of kids and that they
were very polite!!!!!

Dear NASC volunteers,
Thanks so much for your help on Saturday the 12th of November.
Everyone did an amazing job – together, you aided in the restoration of a
large stretch of the Boston shoreline, enhanced the condition of the Publick
Theatre moat, removed 2 types of invasive species and cleaned up numerous
bags of trash along the moat! Special thanks goes to Ames, Phil and John for their efforts
making your volunteer event such a success. The work you did on
Saturday would not have been done with out your help. I applaud your
efforts on the project and thank you for your enthusiasm. I look forward to
finishing other sections of the Charles River
with NASC at another volunteer event.
Best wishes,

Dear Bob,
On behalf of the Barry Price Rehabilitation
Center and its
Afternoon Social Club Encouraging Networking and Transitions
(A.S.C.E.N.T.), I want to thank you and your fabulous volunteers for
assisting us with our “Cabin Fever” dance on Saturday February 16.
The coordinator, Brenda Alpert, was extremely helpful and very sensitive to
the needs of our young people. She did a great job helping the teen
volunteers find ways to get our young people involved in the dance.
Their interactions with our participants were very friendly and
mature. They were quickly available to assist us in any way we needed
(e.g. helping with set up, keeping the event alive, dancing and conversing
with our participants, cleaning up, etc.). We truly appreciate how
available and responsive the coordinator and volunteers were. We hope
you will be able to help us at future events as your assistance helped to
make our dance a true success.
Sincerely,

Dear ASC Leaders:
I want to thank you for ASC's long-standing
commitment to the Kevin Clancy Basketball
Tournament and the Newton Special Athletes
program. We had another great
basketball tournament thanks to ASC!
While I am mailing out thank you letters to all
the athletes that signed in at the tourney, I
want to make sure you know how much we
appreciate all the behind the scenes work it
takes to coordinate your group of student
athletes. Newton
is truly fortunate to have
Athletes Serving the Community and our program
is very thankful and appreciative of
the impact ASC continues to make on programs and
events.
My sincere thanks, mark-
